Ruidoso Downs Race Track Message: “Come Back to the Races! We’re Open for Business!”
MONDAY, JULY 8, 2024
Ruidoso Downs Race Track General Manager has a message to all tourists in the region.
“Time to get back to it,” Baugh said. “Let’s go.”
The race track joins with community leaders inviting guests to come back to the tourist town for the remainder of the summer. The Ruidoso area has been hesitant to welcome tourists in the past few weeks since the devastating fires on June 17, but that message has changed to All Tourists are Welcome!
“We want to thank the emergency personnel and first-responders who helped protect our community,” Baugh said. “Now that the fire and flood events are in the past, we want to make sure and let the tourists know they are welcome and invited back to our community to enjoy the weather and all the fun activities. We need tourism to sustain our businesses and help us activate the local economy.”
Ruidoso Downs suffered no damage from the fires and is continuing to repair a portion of the thoroughbred track from flooding that occurred on June 28th. The track has continued to race quarter horses and conducted trials this weekend for the Rainbow Derby and Rainbow Oaks.
“This weekend we will see the nation’s top two-year-olds in the $1 million Rainbow Futurity on Sunday,” Baugh said. “We have full race cards with quarter horse racing this weekend, so we invite everyone to come back to Ruidoso Downs and stay in the community as we continue the summer tourism season.”
For tickets telephone the box office at 575-378-4140 or purchase online at www.raceruidoso.com. First post this weekend will be 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
