Asscher Draws Clear and Tops All Fillies In Trials for Rainbow Oaks at Ruidoso Downs

(Ruidoso Downs, NM) Asscher and jockey Christian Ramos broke sharply and cleared the field by two-lengths to win the tenth trial race today and qualify with the fastest time in trials for the $483,384 Rainbow Oaks presented by Rolling Still Vodka and Ponderosa Whiskey at Ruidoso Downs Race Track today.
Asscher won for the fifth time in ten career starts including a victory in the Los Alamitos Oaks in March. The filly advanced to the finals of the Rainbow Oaks which will be run here on Sunday, July 21.
Asscher ran the 440-yards in 21.505 seconds and paid $3.00, $2.20 and $2.10 for onwers K. Lance Bland and Jimmy Barton. Asscher’s sire is FDD Dynasty out of the mare Astica by Jesse James Jr.
“I think she has more in the tank,” trainer Marc Jungers said. “Christian hand-rode her most of the way and we look forward to her coming back in the final.”
Other runners that qualified include Tempting Barbie, Running to the Moon, Firstchickonthemoon, Amore for a Reason, Butterfli, High Fling, Moon Spot, Aj Precious Jewel and Macdara.
Racing continues next Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Ruidoso Downs highlighted by the $1 million Rainbow Futurity for two-year-old quarter horses on Sunday. First post time each day is 12:30 p.m.
