RAINBOW FUTURITY TRIALS: DAY 2

Getthere Fast Scores Fastest Qualifying Time In Day-Two Trials for Rainbow Futurity at Ruidoso Downs Race Track

Ruidoso Downs, NM—Getthere Fast, a two-year-old gelding, broke sharply from the rail and pulled away to become a strong winner during day-two trials for the $1 million Rainbow Futurity at Ruidoso Downs Race Track, recording the fastest time of the day of 19.644 seconds for 400-yards.

“With all the rain and a headwind blowing, you’d have to say that I was a little nervous,” trainer Toby Keeton said after the race. “I was confident that this horse would show us something. He has blossomed over the past few weeks since the Ruidoso finals.”

Getthere Fast ran second in the $1 million Ruidoso Futurity at Ruidoso Downs On June 12 behind his barn mate Otts Boy, whose connections decided to skip the Rainbow in order to be fresh for the All American Futurity trials in August.

Getthere Fast was ridden by Bryan Candanosa for owner John Simmons of Simmons Racing. The gelding paid $3.20, $2.20 and $2.10. Gettherefast is sired by Tempting Dash out of the mare Get There by Fantastic Corona Jr., and it marked a third win in four career starts with earnings of approximately $200,000.

Other quarter horses who qualified for the Rainbow Derby final include: Chasing AJ in 19.672 seconds; Eye On the Card in 19.739 seconds; El Gran Ferrari in 19.785 Seconds; and Curls Joyful Wagon in 19.785 seconds.

The Rainbow Futurity will be run on Sunday, July 24. Tomorrow trials will be held for the $348,826 Rainbow Oaks and the $645,329 Rainbow Derby for three-year-old quarter horses. First post time is scheduled for Noon on Sunday.
