Post Positions Drawn for All American Futurity, Derby, and Oaks

Whistle Stop Cafe is Morning Line Favorite in GI All American Futurity

 RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM – AUGUST 31, 2020 – Post positions were drawn this morning for the All American Futurity, the All American Derby, and the inaugural running of the All American Oaks that will headline the All American Weekend race card at Ruidoso Downs Race Track beginning Friday and running through Labor Day. Whitmire Ranch’s Whistle Stop Cafe is the morning line favorite at 3-1 in the signature event of the weekend, the $3 Million All American Futurity that will be contested at 440 yards in Monday’s featured 9th race with a post time of 5:12 PM MDT. The Cowboy Channel will broadcast the All American Futurity and the All American Juvenile live during its broadcast from 4:00 – 5:30 PM MDT on Labor Day.

In today’s draw, Whistle Stop Cafe’s jockey, Ricky Ramirez, picked post position seven. It was from that same position that the gray filly won the 2020 Rainbow Futurity. The fastest qualifier, Flashing My Pjs, drew post position two and is 7-2 on the morning line. 

The rest of the field for the All American Futurity from the rail out is: Eagles And Dragons (10-1), Flashing My Pjs (7-2), Famous And Easy (8-1), Flash Bak (15-1), HR Princess Jess (15-1), Caliente Caramelo (20-1), Whistle Stop Cafe (3-1), Instygator (9-2), Jettz (6-1), and Apollitical Gold (12-1).

Sunday’s race card features the $1 Million All American Derby for 3-year-old Quarter Horses set at 440 yards. It is the featured 9th race with a post time of 4:28 PM. Valeriano Racing’s Gold Heart Eagle V is the morning line favorite at 5-2 and comes into the Grade I race having clocked the fastest qualifying time. In that trial race, the colt bested the second place finisher by a whopping 4 lengths. Trainer Monty Arrossa selected post position five in the draw.

2020 Ruidoso Derby winner Hotsempting will break out of post position seven and has morning line odds of 7-2. Cers Final Try, the 2020 Rainbow Derby winner that beat Hotsempting at the wire, drew post position four and is 9-2 on the morning line.

The field for the All American Derby from the rail out is: Inaugurator (10-1), Elm Creek Khrome (15-1), Jess Sumokin Hot (5-1), Cers Final Try (9-2), Gold Heart Eagle V (5-2), Love Is Everything V (8-1), Hotsempting (7-2), KJ Mucho Macho Man (15-1), Kleptomaniac (20-1), and Hes Back (20-1).

The inaugural running of the $421,165 All American Oaks, a new division that has been created for fillies, will also run on Sunday’s card as the 7th race with a post time of 3:36 PM MDT. As expected, the filly Ratification is the morning line favorite at 9-5 and will break out of post position eight. Owned by Bobby Cox and trained by the late John Buchanan, Ratification won the inaugural running of the 2020 Rainbow Oaks and was impressive in her trial heat win as she qualified with the fastest time overall. Kiss Thru Fire, breaking out of post position one, is 7-2 on the morning line.

The rest of the All American Oaks field from the rail out is: Kiss Thru Fire (7-2), Kylee Joy (6-1), Foxys First Kiss (15-1), Kiss My Lassie (15-1), Kieva (9-2), Amethyst (20-1), Bv Sheslikethewind (12-1), Ratification (9-5), Valiant Astica (8-1), and Apollitical Snow (20-1).

Racing continues Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday this week with special Labor Day racing. Post time is set for 1:00 PM each day.
