TRIPLE CROWN REPORT Presented by:

LONGSHOT WINNER MYSTIC PAINT TOPS LIST OF FINALISTS FOR THE $829,372 RUIDOSO DERBY

(Ruidoso Downs, NM) Mystic Paint and jockey Ramiro Garcia surprised bettors with a solid victory in the seventh race today at Ruidoso Downs Race Track by one-and-a-half lengths at 18-1 odds.

Mystic Paint’s time was 20.010 seconds for 400-yards which was fastest among the top-ten that qualified for the June 8 final.

“He was a nice horse as a two-year-old but had a lack-luster summer last season,” Jason Olmstead. “We really didn’t know what to expect going into the race but we were surprised at the time and how well he performed.”

Mystic Paint paid $39.40, $21.40 and $9.60. The colt is sired by PYC Paint Your Wagon out of the mare Jess So Sixy by Mr Jess Perry. It was the colt’s third win in eleven career races.

Other winners that made the final include: AJ Precious Jewel in the second race, Vegas Trick in the fourth race, Dashing Tres in the fifth race, Lets Leave in the sixth race, and The Marksman V in the eighth race.

Racing continues tomorrow at Ruidoso Downs with thoroughbreds and quarter horses making up a ten-race card with first post at 1 p.m. The feature race is the $45,000 John Andreini Memorial Stakes with first post time at 1 p.m.
