TRIPLE CROWN REPORT Presented by:

FDD Dreams Top Qualifyer in Day-2 Trials For $1 Million Rainbow Futurity at Ruidoso Downs

FDD Dreams and jockey Luis Martinez broke sharply and romped home to a three-and-a-half length victory in the seventh trial race Saturday at Ruidoso Downs to qualify for the $1 Million Rainbow Futurity in the fastest time of the day, 19.356 seconds for 400-yards.

“It’s special when these horses are raised on your ranch and then succeed on the race track,” owner Javier Rodriguez said. The gelding is a homebred from the La Feliz Montana Ranch.

The gelding is sired by FDD Dynasty out of the mare Treasured Dreams by Apolitical Jess. FDD Dreams paid $3.00, $2.20 and $2.10 as the heavy favorite.

The final two races of the day were cancelled due to flooding on the race track from the burn scars in the Ruidoso area. Those horses will remain eligible for the Rainbow Derby next season and their nomination entry fees will be refunded.

Other two-year-old quarter horses that qualified for the Rainbow Futurity include Hezgothelook Z, Candy Going Viral, Just Dulce and Highly Regarded V.

The Rainbow Futurity final will be run on Sunday, July 14. Racing is scheduled to resume on Monday with trials for the $800,000 Rainbow Derby. First post is schedule for 12:30 p.m.
