TRIPLE CROWN REPORT Presented by:

Delight Interest, Streaks of Power Prove Fastest In Trials for All American

Derby and Oaks At

Ruidoso Downs Race Track

Delight Interest, a three-year-old gelding, finished a half-length in front of four other quarter horses that qualified out of the 14th trial race for the $1.2 million All American Derby at Ruidoso Downs today.

Ridden by Juan Pulido, Delight Interest won for the fifth consecutive time including victories in Sunland Park’s West Texas Derby and the Sam Houston Derby in Houston earlier this year. The gelding’s winning time was 21.270 seconds for 440-yards.

“This horse is a bullet,” Pulido said in the winner’s circle. “It’s the horse I was waiting to ride all day because I knew he was going to be fast. I rode this horse in Houston to win the Derby there and knew all about his ability coming into these trials.”

Delight Interest is owned by the Triple Five partnership and trained by Toby Keeton who qualified three horses into the All American Derby final. The gelding is sired by Separate Interest out of the mare Volcoms Delight by Volcom, and has career earnings of about $240,000. Delight Interest paid $8.40, $5.00 and $3.40.

“I had seen the filly run at Los Alamitos and feel fortunate to get the opportunity to ride her today,” Calderon said. “Her sire is a thoroughbred so I felt that the distance would be no problem. She really opened up on the field once she got rolling.”
