River Flash Continues Win Streak While Qualifying For the $173,593 Zia Derby Finals at Ruidoso Downs

Ruidoso Downs, NM—River Flash, a three-year-old gelding, won for the fourth consecutive start and qualified with the fastest time of the day during trials for the $173,593 Zia Derby for New Mexico-bred quarter horses at Ruidoso Downs Race Track.

With Jockey Adrian Ramos on board, River Flash covered the 400-yard distance in a time of 19.564 seconds. River Flash just won the Mountain Top Derby at Ruidoso Downs on June 18 and has six wins in ten career starts and earnings of over $180,000. River Flash is sired by Chicks Regard out of the mare Riverside Flash by First Moonflash. The gelding returned $2.60, $2.20 and $2.10.

Other quarter horses to qualify for the August 6 th Zia Derby final include: Mitey Keymeera in 19.684 seconds; Classy Moon in 19.740 seconds; Mi Gentee in 19.744 seconds; Z Ya in 19.760 seconds; Cowboy Zulu in 19.789 seconds; Flashin the Ivory in 19.806 seconds; Flashin Fire in 19.822 seconds; Jaunt in 19.848 seconds; and Ebw Pistol Pete in 19.855 seconds.
