Ruidoso Downs to Pay Tribute to Lowell Neumayer During 2025 Season

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 26

(Ruidoso Downs, NM) A special tribute to Lowell Neumayer, longtime general manager of the Ruidoso Horse Sale Company, will be planned as part of the 2025 Ruidoso Downs racing season, Owner Johnny Trotter announced following Lowell’s passing on Sunday at the age of 80.

“Lowell was an integral member of our racetrack & chaplaincy family and played a key role in the success of the horse sale company over the years. Lowell was a special part of our lives both at work and at home and it’s only fitting that we pay tribute to him during the 2025 racing season.”

Originally from Dimmitt, Texas, Lowell worked in farming and ranching his entire life before taking over management of the Ruidoso Horse Sale Company in 1988. The Ruidoso Downs Hall of Fame presented Lowell with a special achievement award in 2018 and he retired in early 2023. Services are pending.

“Ruidoso Downs sends our condolences to Lowell’s family and friends during this difficult time. We know he was special to so many and will be truly missed,” Trotter said.
