Jockey Kelsi Purcell will attempt to stay unbeaten for the season when she rides Arranged Vows in the 8th race as the 5/2 favorite Friday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs Race Track. Kelsi has four wins in four races.
“I’ve received a lot of support and congrats’ from fans,” Kelsi said while being interviewed in the winner’s circle this week. “I always want to thank several of the trainers that I work with for putting me on good horses with chances to win.”
Along with her start in the 8th race, Kelsi is scheduled to ride W F Va Venada in the 10th race Friday. That horse is 3-1 on the morning line. Both horses are from the barn of Casey Lambert, last season’s top thoroughbred trainer.
First post on Friday is 1 p.m. and begins the weekend of racing that includes the $1 million Ruidoso Futurity to be run on Sunday afternoon. The $700,000 (est) Ruidoso Derby will be run on Saturday’s race card.
