Race 4  Glorious Eagle     #1     Morning Line Odds: 7/2

Team Wood has plenty of talented young runners in their barn so you could probably bet their horses all day and come out on top. One of their scheduled nineteen starters on Friday, Glorious Eagle is considered to be one of their fastest. The gelding was purchased for $87k during the fall sale by Gene and Tod Bradley. Jockey Tanner Thedford is getting first-call these days for trainer Trey Wood.

Race 7     Mr Apollo Jess #7   Morning Line Odds: 8/5

This colt was favored at even-money to win the Oklahoma Breeders Futurity at Remington Park on April 17 and finished a troubled fifth. Mr Apollo Jess and jockey Juan Pulido won the trial race for that stakes event by more than a length covering 330-yards in 16.83 seconds for Zitro Racing. Experience will be an advantage on Friday as the colt makes a fourth career start while most of the other horses are making their career debut.

Race 9 Jess Savin Candy #10         Morning Line Odds: 15-1

The trials for the Ruidoso Futurity typically bring in a few longshot winners simply because so many young horses are at the beginning of their racing careers and we don’t know very much about them yet.  Jess Savin Candy is a perfect example of that for trainer John Stinebaugh and owner Dutch Masters. This gelding has a bullet work March 21 at Retama out of 67 other prospects—worth a shot at 15-1.

Race 13  Rose Rock Candy   #1  Morning Line Odds: 9/2

This young filly finished third in a maiden race at Remington Park on April 29, but it was how she did it that was most surprising. The chart writer wrote, “went to knees” on her race line. Any racehorse that can practically fall down and get back up—even to finish third—has potential. Trainer Heath Taylor and jockey Oscar Andrade Jr. should have her ready to go for owners William Smith and Ky Luddington.

Race 15 Double Duty #9  Morning Line Odds: 5-1

Just say the name of the owners of this filly, Joan Dale Hubbard and Derrol Hubbard, and the public takes notice. This youngster is considered one of the most promising from Mike Joiner’s training barn and the 350-yard distance might be perfect for jockey Raul Ramirez Jr.
