As we head closer to All American trials many contenders are putting in their final serious preparations. Thursday’s training had numerous workers getting ready.

Trainer Wes Giles worked five sets, all of them impressive. Apollitical Fast Prize and KJ Daisy Duke, went 220 yards in a blazing 10.96. A qualifier to the Ruidoso Futurity Final, last out she finished third in the Rainbow Futurity Trial while drifting about. "Who knows? She's a filly," said Jill Giles about why she didn't keep a straight course. In this work, she went perfectly. "Hope she does that in the trials." Also in a very solid time of 11.09 were KJ Mustang Sally and Avyator. The final set of the day for Giles saw a pair of three-year-old fillies. Kiss My Astica pulled away from KJ Kiss This in 10.81 while the latter clocked in at 10.97. This will be the final work for these runners before the trials.

Clint Crawford also worked several this Thursday. "We're not letting them go too fast, just a tightener," he said. Three Fancy Socks, a three-year-old filly, and Ratifyed, a two-year-old colt, both looked good with the former going in 11.25 and striding well while under a moderate hold and the latter clocking in at 11.65 with a similar restraint from the rider. As for the barn's three-year-old star, Uncle D, who has underperformed this year compared to a stellar two year old season, Crawford said "Hopefully this time we got all his little problems straightened out. We had his feet looked at, he was a little sick before...this is his last chance."

On Tuesday morning, trainer Juan Gonzalez sent out Eagles N Dragons to work 220 in company with D Little Bandito from the gate. The former went in 12.26 to beat the former by a little over a length. "I really like Eagles And Dragons for the Futurity," said Juan Carlos. "We just need to get him to run straight. But he did super in his workout on Tuesday."
