RUIDOSO DOWNS RACE TRACK TO HOST TACOS AND TEQUILA FESTIVAL

RUIDOSO DOWNS, N.M. (April 15, 2022) — Ruidoso Downs Race Track will host its inaugural Tacos and Tequila Festival inside the Santa Fe Furniture Events Center on June 3, 4 and 5 during this summer’s season of horse racing. Admission to the festival is free.

The festival will feature approximately 13 different brands of tequila to be sampled by patrons who wish to purchase tickets for a taste. Each brand will have representatives available to describe the type of tequila being sampled.

Tequila brands that are expected to participate from National Distributing Company include Herradura (premium 100% agave), Milagro (a brighter side of tequila), Jose Cuervo (the oldest known tequila), El Jimador (100% hand-harvested from mature blue agave), Dulce Vida (the world’s only certified USDA organic), and Camarena (a bottle 250 years in the making).

Tequila brands that are expected to participate from Southern Distributing include Código (known as the official tequila of Ruidoso Downs and co-owned by country music icon George Strait); Rolling Still’s Phrases Tequila from Taos, New Mexico; Little Toad’s Five Ducks (blue agave soaked in whiskey barrels); Patrón (clearly one of the world’s most popular brands of tequila); Hornitos (a shot worth taking); and Tres Generaciones (striving for the ultimate legacy).

Admiral Beverage Inc. will offer their signature tequila brand, Cantera Negra, which was founded more than 40 years ago after a decade of perfecting what could be the best-tasting tequila in the world.

Here’s how the tequila festival works: Patrons can purchase eight tickets for $20, which allows them to receive a one-quarter ounce sample of any of the 13 tequila brands being offered. Tacos will be for sale by several different food vendors throughout the day.

The featured music will be UnLyshed, the popular all-family band from Las Cruces. They will play at 7PM on both Friday and Saturday. Other local bands will perform throughout the day.

The Santa Fe Furniture Events Center will open at 11AM each day, starting with tequila tasting at Noon. Margaritas will also be served. Live racing at Ruidoso Downs Race Track begins at 1PM on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
