Racing Season Comes to an End!

Ruidoso Downs Race Track Concludes Racing Season with Multiple Stakes Races, All American Select Yearling Sale and The Graham Brothers Band

     Ruidoso Downs, NM—Labor Day weekend marks the conclusion of the 2022 racing season at Ruidoso Downs Race Track with first post time scheduled for Noon on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

     The weekend events are highlighted by the $3 million All American Futurity to be held on Monday, September 5. The 440 yard stakes event for two-year-old quarter horses is considered to be the most prestigious race of the year for quarter horses.

     Monday’s twelve-race card also includes the $200,000 All American Juvenile which is a consolation for non-qualifiers of the Futurity. The Grade-1 $150,000 All American Gold Cup at 440 yards for quarter horses that are three years old+ will also take place on Labor Day.

      On Sunday, three-year-old quarter horses will race in the $808,264 All American Derby, the $460,824 All American Oaks and the $100,000 All American Invitational. There are twelve races carded on Sunday.       

       The annual Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale begins today (Friday) and continues Saturday and Sunday in the sales pavilion. The public is invited to attend and admission is free. More than 400 yearlings are expected to walk through the auction ring over the weekend.

      The racing weekend begins on Saturday with a ten-race card. There will be opportunities for shopping throughout the weekend with more than 50 vendors selling products in the grandstand as well as inside the Santa Fe Furniture Events Center.

     The Graham Brothers, one of the most popular family bands in Lincoln County, will be performing in the Santa Fe Furniture Events Center each evening starting at 6 p.m. Admission is free.

     While reserved seating has been sold out for the weekend’s races for weeks, the public is invited to watch the races on the apron and throughout the grandstand. Portable seating is allowed. Parking and general admission is free. The public is encouraged to arrive early to the race track especially on Sunday and Monday.     

     Sunday and Monday’s card will be broadcast on the Cowboy Channel at 4 p.m. mountain time. The races can be seen online at www.cowboychannelplus.com.
