Jess Savin Candy, the two-year-old winner of the $1 million Ruidoso and $1 million Rainbow Futurities this season, galloped on the race track this morning at Ruidoso Downs with rider Francisco Calderon aboard in preparation for the $3 million All American Futurity trials next weekend.
“I thought he looked awesome,” trainer John Stinebaugh said after the briefworkout on the race track just before 8 a.m. “He’s sort of a noticeable horse because of his size and his white markings on his face. He seems to be right on schedule leading up to the trials.
Entries were taken in the racing office for the Futurity trials which are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, August 20 and 21. Jess Savin Candy would need to qualify for the Labor Day final in order to win the Triple Crown by being clocked with one of the five fastest times of the day.
Post times and the number of trial races to be run each day will be announced later today.
