RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM – JULY 30, 2020 – Sunday’s featured tenth race, the  $40,000 Mr Jet Moore Handicap, a 400-yard Grade 2 stakes race for 3-year-old and older Quarter Horses is shaping up to be a shoot-out. Morning line favorite Valiant Tiberias will have his hands full going up against the speedy Apocalyptical Jess, Higheasterjet Handicap winner Sc Moneymaker, and John Andreini Memorials Stakes champ New News who hopes to extend his winning streak to three in a row.

Friday’s program includes the John Deere Ruidoso Downs Juvenile Challenge Trials at 350 yards. In the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth races, 40 2-year-old Quarter Horses will compete for a spot in the $25,000 John Deere Ruidoso Downs Juvenile Challenge which will be run at Ruidoso Downs Race Track on August 15th.

On Saturday, another round of trials are on the card but this time for 3-year-old Quarter Horses who will vie for a spot in the $60,000 Adequan Ruidoso Downs Derby Challenge. Twenty horses will fight for the chance to race 400 yards in the finals on August 15th for a purse of $60,000.

Sunday’s seventh race will be the Bobby Dan Crenshaw Memorial Stakes to be run at 1000 yards. This mixed stake race for 3-year-olds and older has a purse of $20,000 and was won last year by Midevil Hero who is also entered to run again this year. 

Registration is now open for the Ruidoso Downs Handicapping Challenge on August 29 in the All American Turf Club. Don't miss a chance to compete for $4,000 in total cash prizes. The top two finishers will get a chance to win expenses-paid seats to the prestigious National Horseplayers Championship (NHC) event in Las Vegas, February 12-14, 2021.

Post time is 1:00 PM MDT on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. At this time, the Turf Club and the Jockey Club are limited to 50% capacity due to the Public Health Order from the State of New Mexico. A limited number of tables are available to the public for $50 for a table of four.
